Welcome to The Unbounded Traveler! My name is Sophie Mendel, and I’m a 28-year-old graduate of the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. I have traveled to over 40 countries, am fluent in two languages and in the process of learning two more, and I absolutely live and breathe travel. 

I’ve experienced the world on a budget as a solo female backpacker, explored fascinating corners of the world with my family and friends, and I’ve even had a few opportunities for luxury travel. I’ve found love in exotic destinations, been welcomed by cultures I didn’t know existed, and been awed by the glory and magnitude of Mother Nature. These varied experiences have helped me to gain a unique perspective on travel and the world in general, and have become the inspiration behind this blog.

I encourage everyone to get out there and see the world as much and as often as possible. That said, planning your dream trip can be intimidating! It can be overwhelming to know where to go and what to do when you get there. Let me take the guesswork and stress out of planning your trip by providing you with in-depth travel guides for the world’s most fantastic destinations!

Traveling is what I know, what I love, and is the passion that fuels me to go see what’s out there and discover what this amazing world and its places, peoples, and cultures have to offer.
